Encampment
Come to the encampment and take a step back in time!
There is nothing more peaceful than primitive camping. There’s no electric for video games, loud music, generators, lights…it’s so quiet. We cook everything over an open fire. We have candles for our lighting, and if we want music, well, we have fellow campers with banjos, acoustic guitars, mandolins and God-given talent and voices. If we want to have fun, we can throw hawk and knives, have bows and arrow competitions or other camp games. We also, have camp cook-offs for individual category’s like main entree, side dish and deserts. After that we have one giant camp feast to celebrate and socialize. While doing all of these activities we are in traditional 1800 period dress, so it makes it more fun for the campers as well as the town folks who come to visit us in camp.
When you wake up in the morning all you hear is…. birds singing and trees shuffling, and maybe an occasional animal in the background. It’s the most peaceful time of the day. As our day begins, we get a fire going to start breakfast. There’s nothing better than eating food cooked over an open fire. We heat up our cast iron skillets for bacon, eggs and fried potatoes…delicious. The smells of a campfire and food cooking...it doesn’t get any better!!
When you walk around to visit, you will find the folks in the different camps doing some sort of chore whether it be cooking, cleaning, or working on projects around their homes. Our homes are called Lodges: Wedges, Bakers, Tee Pees, Wall, Open face Diamonds & Marquis Lodges.
